Southgate Centre opened at south Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1970 by its owner Ivanhoe Cambridge. The total floor area covered by retailers is 818,151 square feet in a 2-floor building with a total number of 130 stores and services. Shops in this establishment include Safeway, The Bay, Coles, Sears and various small chain stores. The Centre has just been refurbished to accommodate 40 more stores and an additional 2-level parking deck strategically located along a transit stop on the expansion of the LRT.

The Southgate Centre is one of the several major malls in Edmonton in terms of size and importance. It is comparable to Northgate Centre, Kingsway Garden Mall, Sherwood Park Mall, Commerce Place, Manulife Place, Mill Woods Town Centre, West Edmonton Mall, and several other malls.

Southgate Centre provides a special feature by adding a public library in addition to its 140 stores with The Bay Mart and Walmart as main anchors. Included in its favorite destination are The Gap, La Senza, Aldo and Eddie Bauer. To quench its customer’s thirst as well as hunger, Albert’s Restaurant and Safeway provides great cuisines for shoppers.
