The man who has been Edmonton Economic Development Corp.’s interim chief executive officer since April has cemented his job at the top.

Derek Hudson was named the new CEO and president of the city’s economic development hub by the organization’s board of directors on Wednesday.

Hudson first joined EEDC in April 2013, holding positions as chief operating officer, corporate secretary and roles across the organization dealing with corporate services, innovation and the Shaw Conference Centre.

Before joining the corporation, Hudson, a chartered accountant and graduate of the University of Alberta’s School of Business, co-founded Micralyne, a spin-off company from the University of Alberta that makes micro-electro mechanical systems.
